One person was killed while 15 others were hurt following a three vehicle smash-up in Maharlika Highway, Barangay San Rafael, Sto. Tomas town, Batangas Monday morning.
Supt. Barnard Danie Dasugo, Sto. Tomas police chief, said the incident took place around 5 a.m.
He added that collision involves one Suzuki motorcycle (5934), one passenger jeepney (DXZ-792) and a ALPS bus (PYS-358).
Dasugo identify the fatality as Leopoldo Cabanilla, the driver of the motorcycle.
Investigation revealed that the passenger jeepney was heading for Calamba and was closely followed by Cabanilla when the Sto. Tomas-bound bus appeared out of nowhere and swerved into the direction of the smaller vehicles.
The impact knocked the passenger jeepney off the road and seriously injured its passengers. The collision also caused the former vehicle to hit Cabanilla’s motorcycle and caused it to go under, killing the victim instantly.
