A woman was shot dead while two of her relatives were wounded, including a six-year-old child, when an armed man entered their house in Tondo, Manila on Friday night.
Police Officer 3 Roderick Magdale identified the victim as Julieta Saga, 48, while those wounded were Cholo Sabdao, 6, and Darren Williams, 24, all residents of 1314-C Juan Luna Street.
The suspect, a certain JR Nicolas, age between 30 to 35, and a resident of Bacoor City, Cavite, escaped after the shooting on board a motorcycle and fled toward the Tayuman area.
Initial investigation revealed that Nicolas entered Saga’s house at 7:12 p.m. A closed-circuit television footage showed the suspect entering Juan Luna Street before approaching Saga’s door and firing at her.
Williams and Sabdao, coming from a room, rushed to where the gunshots were heard. Nicolas reportedly fired at them, causing them to sustain gunshot wounds in their limbs.
They were brought at the nearby Mary Johnson Hospital. Doctors declared Saga dead at about 8:40 p.m. The two other victims were still recuperating in the hospital as of press time.
A certain Geraldine Managa, a neighbor of the victims, said Nicolas has allegedly been accused of frustrated murder by one of Saga’s relatives.
Police has launched a follow-up operation in a bid to arrest Nicolas.
