A drug suspect who fought it out with Station Anti- Illegal Drugs operatives of Novaliches Police Station 4 was killed while another one was arrested in a police buy-bust operation Saturday.
Quezon City Police District Director Senior Supt. Guillermo Eleazar identified the slain suspect as Severino Navasquez y Deona, 38, and the arrested suspect as Erwin Miralles y Polistico, 27. Both were residents of Interior Masaya Street, Barangay Gulod, Novaliches.
Eleazar said a telephone call from a concerned citizen was received by the station, regarding the selling of illegal drugs at Interior Masaya.
At 6:15 p.m., operatives were dispatched. Upon arrival, a group of men were caught in the act of selling and Miralles was apprehended, while the rest managed to escape. Miralles revealed that Navasquez was the source of illegal drugs, police said. Operatives then sought Navasquez at his residence.
Sensing the presence of the police, he fired at the operatives, who retaliated. The suspect was brought to Novaliches District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Evidence recovered at Navasquez’ residence were two fired 9mm cartridges, one caliber .38 revolver with serial number T9795, three fired cartridge cases, five plastic sachets of shabu, one aluminum foil, and one improvised glass tooter.
At the hospital, authorities recovered another plastic sachet of shabu from Navasquez. Two plastic sachets of shabu were recovered from Miralles.
