• 1 killed, 1 wounded as NPAs attack N. Cotabato rubber plantation


    A rubber plantation worker was killed while another was seriously wounded after 30 heavily armed New People’s Army (NPA) fighters torched a plantation of the Standard Rubber Development Corporation in Barangay Taluntalunan, Makilala town, North Cotabato province on Sunday evening.

    Lt. Nasrullah Sema, 57th Infantry Battalion civil-military operation officer, said that the attack took place at about 7:40 p.m.

    He added that the raiders were led by a certain Felix Armodia, a ranking NPA leader in the area.

    Sema added that a certain Hector Lalaguna, an employee of the said plantation, was killed after stepping on a landmine left by the rebels.

    The same explosion also wounded Francisco Manliquez, a co-worker of the fatality.

    Both civilians were proceeding to the rubber plantation were this atrocity occurred.

    The rebels immediately fled after destroying an undetermined amount of property. Pursuit operations are now ongoing. PNA
