10 ‘jueteng’ collectors collared


BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya: In an effort to implement the provincial governor’s order to eradicate any form of gambling in the province, at least 10 jueteng employees were arrested by joint police operatives in Villaverde town.

Chief Inspector Wilson Magpali of the provincial Criminal Investigation and Detection Team identifed those arrested as table manager Juvy Lasam, 49, of Roxas, Isabela; and checkers Rowena Martin, 47, of Sampaloc, Zam-boanga City; Marlon Jacinto, 34, of Da-mortis, Licab, Nueva Ecija; Rosa-linda Alcantara, 49, of Basod, Polan-gui, Albay; and Reggie Urcia, 41, of Caritan Sur, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Other checkers identified were John Corpuz, 35; Allan Lopez, 29, both of Santiago City; Johny Tagum, 48; Jun Dela Cruz, 36 at Edward Bautista, 28, all of Sto. Domingo town and San Jose City at Gapan City in Nueva Ecija.

Police and intelligence team swooped down on Wednesday at 10:20 a.m. after spotting the conduct of “stealth jueteng operations”.
