Ten teams will see action in the 2015 Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Women’s Invitational Cup that will kick off at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium on Sunday.
In this year’s tournament, teams will field a full 11-man roster in the pitch instead of nine-a-side games, which was used in the last edition. The 10 participating teams this year is divided into two groups of five squads, which will battle it out in the elimination round of the competition.
Defending University Athletic Association of the Philippines women’s football champion Far Eastern University will be housed in Group A together with Green Archers United FC, Ateneo De Manila University, University of the Philippines-Y and Sikat FC.
Meanwhile, Chelsea SS FC, De La Salle University, Lady Tamaraw FC, University of the Philippines-X and University of Santo Tomas are clustered in Group B.
The tournament, which was launched in 2014, aims to popularize women’s football in the country and to provide a venue where new talents for the national pool can be discovered.
