ILOILO CITY: The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) regional office here has identified about 100 cities and municipalities in Western Visayas considered high risk for landslides and floods as a mitigation scheme to alert these areas during strong typhoons, especially with the incoming La Niña.

MGB regional director Leo Van Juguan said that the province of Iloilo has 24 danger areas, particularly high-risk towns for landslides and floodings, notably Concepcion, a coastal municipality. Also threatened with landslides are the towns of Leon, San Joaquin, Tubungan, Igbaras, Miagao, Lambunao, Calinog, Alimodian and Janiuay.
