Over 1,000 indigents benefit in journalists’ medical mission

More than 1,000 indigents in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, have availed of free medicines, consultations and examinations during the medical, dental, and optical mission conducted by newspaper reporters assigned at the Metro Manila’s eastern area in cooperation with UNTV, National Press Club of the Philippines, Eastern Police District and the local government in the area. The medical mission drew young and old patients to the health services mission held at the Pasig City Multi-purpose Hall, in Barangay Pinagbuhatan. The Manila Times reporter Neil Alcober, president of the Metro East-Rizal Press Organization, said that aside from providing relevant news and information to the public, they also wanted to help underprivileged people in their beat assignments. “This is our simple way of helping them,” he said.
