THe Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) partnered with licensed overseas recruitment agencies to bring 10,000 no-placement-fee overseas jobs in the Joint Relief, Medical/Counseling Mission and Jobs Fair to Ormoc City on December 13 to 14.
Recruitment agencies dubbed the initiative as “May Bukas Pa Movement,” which will also provide over 30,000 kilos (30 tons) of relief goods in 3,000 relief packs containing food, canned goods, school supplies, toys, 3,000 tents, sanitary items and medicine.
Over 35 licensed agencies are participating in the joint relief efforts of DOLE/POEA and are offering 10,000 professional and skilled jobs. Too, 40 agency owners, staff and volunteers will personally hand the relief packs to beneficiaries identified by the Ormoc Disaster and Relief officials.
Leyteños are encouraged to join the job fair and apply with the PRAs for jobs offered at the job fair on December 14 inside Ormoc City Hall.
Other attached agencies of DOLE, POEA, OWWA, Tesda, BLE with other cooperating entities like the Public Employment Services Offices (PESOs) LGUs, PhilHealth, NSO, SSS, NBI, GSIS and the DFA will be joining the relief and employment job fair.
Overseas job opportunities include those for professionals and skilled workers like doctors, nurses, medical technologists, engineers, factory workers and maintenance jobs. Activities would include interviews, employment profiling and hiring of pre-matched qualified applicants.
Land-based agencies are still encouraged to join the job fair and contribute to the “May Bukas Pa Foundation” which has sent letters of appeal for more funds for the recipients of the relief and job fair activities in Ormoc City.
