The Philippine Postal Corp. (PhilPost) is expecting 100,000 students from all over the country to join the National Letter Writing Day that will mark the celebration of World Post Day on October 9, 2014.
Postmaster General Josefina dela Cruz on Thursday said the National Letter Writing Day is part of “PhilPost’s Sulat-Mulat Postal Awareness Campaign,” which aims to reintroduce and promote the art of letter writing “as a means of communication among students in today’s digital age.”
“The activity will also help the students hone their composition skills and foster the enjoyment of sending and receiving letters through the postal office,” dela Cruz added.
According to the PhilPost, the event will be held in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd), Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino and SM Supermalls, with the theme “Pinasaya.”
Participants are expected to write happy thoughts “to delight a family member, friend, teacher or anyone special.”
The event will be held at Samsung Hall, SM Aura in Taguig City in Metro Manila.
