Eleven Philippine Swimming League (PSL) standouts will be gunning for medals when the 22nd SSC Open Invitational Midget Meet begins today at the Singapore Swimming Club competition pool in Singapore.
Weisenheimer Academy’s Marc Bryan Dula will be the first to plunge into action as he vies for gold medal in the boys’ 9-year 25m butterfly while Aubrey Tom of International Learning Academy of Cainta also shoots for gold in the girls’ 9-year 25m butterfly.
Also seeing action on the opening day are Estelle Margaret Mendez in girls’ 7-year 25m butterfly, Triza Tabamo in girls’ 9-year 25m butterfly, Asha Segotier in girls’ 7-year 25m butterfly and Princess Jasmine Moelter in girls’ 8-year 25m butterfly so as Master Charles Janda (boys’ 7-year 25m butterfly), Alaina Arquiza (girls’ 8-year 25m butterfly), Gregory Miles Sumile (boys’ 9-year 25m butterfly), and Tyrone Somera and Miguel Antonio Mujar (boys’ 8-year 25m butterfly).
“We’re hoping to win our first few medals on the opening day. The field is tough but these kids are no pushovers. They’ll be fighting for our flag, for our country,” said PSL President Susan Papa.
The other members of the delegation are Joey Del Rosario, Tara Beard, Louisse Lana Ballesteros, Jieon Andre Balota, Armaine Victoria Bayubay, Zevastiane Grey Buhain, Ember Kirsten Cahigan, Aizen John Episcope, Samantha Gail Inkee, Joshua Ezekiel Jordan, Miguel Alfonso Mujar, Noel Jazen Nunez, Naomi Kim Quiambao, Lorenzo Yvanliel Regalado, Kate Zaira Roberto, Simone Toira Rosayaga, Thyrone Somera, Euri Sean Raphael Torrefiel and Jaden Will Valin.
Coaches Alex Papa, Aidar Umih and Greg Sumile will be guiding the team.
PSL is a national sports swimming association for Universities and Colleges accredited by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (Fessap), internationally affiliated member of Federation of International Sports University (FISU).
