BAGUIO CITY: To mark Rabies Awareness Month, the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Department of Health (DOH) are reminding the public to be responsible pet owners and submit their dogs for an anti-rabies vaccination. DA Regional Rabies Prevention and Control Program Coordinator Dr. Arlyn Sagayo said providing anti-rabies vaccination is a continuing program of the national government, in line with the goal of achieving a rabies-free Philippines by year 2020. In the Cordillera region, 11,177 dogs have been vaccinated since January this year. Last year, 14 rabies cases were recorded—four each in Kalinga, Ifugao and Mountain Province and one each in Benguet and Apayao.
