At least 1,170 families residing near the Tulyahan river in Caloocan City (Metro Manila) were awarded decent housing units this year.
Mayor Oscar Malapitan on Monday said the city government plans to construct 3,900 housing units in two housing projects in Camarin, Caloocan City and Pandi, Bulacan.
He added that the two projects will be fully occupied next year.
The beneficiaries of the Camarin project will only pay P600 a month but those occupying lower units will pay P1,200 a month for 10 years.
Malapitan said the beneficiaries of the Bulacan project will only pay P200 a month for 20 years.
