ACTING on the reported rampant illicit sex trade victimizing minors, police rescued 12 minor children, including a six-year-old girl, and arrested five alleged pimps in Iligan City, while a British national allegedly operating an on-line pornography site was nabbed in a separate incident in Pagadian City.
International Justice Mission (IJM) said the hapless minors were found in the act of performing sexy dancing and nude in front of the computers when the joint-operation team swooped into the online sex trafficking den in Purok 9, Brgy. Tambacan, Iligan City.
Arrested during the raid of operatives from Women and Children Protection Council (WCPC), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the IJM were suspected child sex traffickers identified as Jeffrel Aque, Kissy Pepito; Cindy Omisol; Jefford Dominguez; and, Lany Buco.
The suspects will be charged for violation of Anti-Trafficking in Person Act (RA 9208), as well as Republic Act 10175 or the cyber crime law for using information and communication technology in allowing the children to perform sexy acts.
The rescued minors were placed under the custody of DSWD-Iligan City.
Chief Supt. Rosaurio Acio, Women and Children Protection Council (WCPC) chief, vowed to conduct more operations to rescue sexually exploited minors because “the WCPC is committed to confront online child exploitation which is becoming an emerging trend in child trafficking in the country.”
Meanwhile, a British national was nabbed on Tuesday for allegedly operating an online pornography site in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.
Peter William Cannel was collared when police agents raided his rented apartment in Rosario Homes Subdivision in Brgy. Dao. Also seized from his apartment were a shotgun and a pistol, ammunitions, and dildos.
