• 13 ex-rebels received financial assistance from government

    The 1002nd Infantry Brigade announced that 13 ex-rebels has received P845,000 worth of livelihood assistance from the government.

    In a statement forwarded to the Philippines News Agency Wednesday, Capt. William Alfred T. Rodriquez, unit spokesperson, said that the money came from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Sarangani Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.

    He added that the surrenderees consists of 11 men and two women.

    Each of them were given P65,000, or a total of P845,000.

    Out of this sum, P50,000 will be used for the surrenderees’ long-term socio-economic assistance, which includes livelihood, capacity building, psycho-social healing and integration in their chosen communities, while the remaining P15,000 was allocated as immediate assistance, which includes food, medicine and transportation.

    The former rebels will also given a one-year PhilHealth coverage reinforced by the Sarangani Provincial Health Office. PNA
