• 13-hour brownout to hit Boracay

A 13-hour brownout will hit Boracay Island, Antique and Capiz on April 19. Areas in Antique that will be affected by the power interruption are the towns of Pandan and Libertad, which are serviced by the Aklan Electric Cooperative (AKELCO). The power firm’s information officer Rence Oczon said the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines had initially scheduled the power interruption for April 12 but it was moved to April 19, upon the request of the local government of Capiz, which is now holding its “Capiztahan” festival. The brownout will start at 6 a.m. and last until 7 p.m.
