13 hurt in car-tricycle collision in Pangasinan


MANGALDAN, Pangasinan: Thirteen persons were hurt and hospitalized when a Honda City sedan rammed the rear of a motorized tricycle at about 5:25 a.m. on Sunday in Barangay Bantayan, Mangaldan, Pangasinan. Initial investigation revealed that the sedan bumped the tricycle, injuring occupants of both vehicles The ambulance crew of the Urgent Care Clinic of Mangaldan and the local police immediately responded and brought the injured to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City for treatment. The victims were Paolo Sumera, 21, of San Jose, Urdaneta City, driver of the sedan; and his passengers Mar Jericho Lagmay, 22, of Nancayasan, Urdaneta City; Phoebe Rose Atenio, 18, of Cayambanan, Urdaneta City; Jackielou Febreo, 21, of Bactad, Urdaneta City; Ashpaul Tagarda, 20, of San Jose, Urdaneta City; Darlyn de Guzman, 22, of San Jose, Urdaneta City; Rosemarie Legaspi, 17, of San Jose, Urdaneta City; Janine Kim Perez, 18, of Camatiles, Urdaneta City; Uoiea Ferrer, 16, of San Vicente, Urdaneta City; and Jomel Lopez, 21, of Nancamaliran, Urdaneta City; The occupants of the motorized tricycle who were also injured were Rafael Sampaga, 50, tricycle driver, of Brgy. Talogtog, Mangaldan, Pangasinan; Gina Borres, 40, of Bateng West, Mangaldan, Pangasinan; Diyesezbel Estero, 49, of Bateng West, Mangaldan, Pangasinan who all sustained slight injuries; and Sardiaña Sembrana, 54, of Bateng East, Mangaldan, Pangasinan who sustained a fractured leg. Further investigation showed that the Honda City sedan bearing plate number ZNT 190, traveling fast in a north-to-south direction, bumped the rear of the motorized tricycle identified as a Honda TMX 155 bearing plate number XH 4402. Consequently, the tricycle turned upside-down, while the sedan turned turtle before it rammed a concrete side of the road.
