131 drug suspects killed in Manila


AT least 131 drug suspects have been killed during legitimate police operations in Manila from July 1 to Sept. 7, according to the Manila Police District Office.

Senior Supt. Carlito Feliciano, Deputy Director for Operations, said more than 13,000 drug users and pushers were accounted for. Of this number, 11,577 surrendered, 639 of them drug pushers, and 947 were arrested.

On Thursday, a member of Batang City Jail Gang and a drug user was shot dead when he grabbed the gun of a policeman in Tondo, Manila.

Joey Ruz, 30, was on a police car when he grabbed the service firearm of PO1 Berly Apolonio of the Smokey Mountain Police Community Precinct.

Policemen rushed Ruz to the Tondo Medical Center but he did not make it to the hospital alive.

One small plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu was found in is pocket.
