CITY OF ILAGAN: The Diocese of Cagayan Valley led by Bishop Joseph Nacua has ordered all the Catholic churches in the region to ring the bells upon the arrival of Pope Francis in the country on Thursday (January 15).
The ringing of bells will signal that Pope Francis feet has stepped in the country.
“By instruction of Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Archbishop Socrates Villegas, church bells in the county must be rung on January 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. to signal the arrival of Pope Francis in the Philippines,” according to Nacua’s letter to the parish churches in the region.
Bishop Nacua advised the Catholic parishioners to be aware on January 15 and not be surprised when the bells in the churches are ringing simultaneously.
He said the bells will be rung for about 15 minutes signaling Pope Francis’ arrival in the country.
Meanwhile, the delegates led by Bishop Nacua, 10 priests and one couple each from the parish churches left Wednesday (January 14) for Metro Manila to welcome and attend the different scheduled Apostolic activities of Pope Francis on January 15-19. PNA
