Some 15 out of 20 roadmaps for industries will be rolled out by Aug 13.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) told reporters that 20 industries have confirmed approving their roadmaps, and 15 of them are ready to implement them.
DTI Undersecretary Adrian Cristobal said that the sectors which committed to pass their roadmaps would submit it within the year.
He also said that the roadmaps will be rolled out immediately after proposed sectoral roadmaps are commissioned by their industries.
The formulation of the scheduled 20 roadmaps to be rolled out was headed by the think-tank Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS).
Five industry roadmaps are being finalized while seven are commissioned by each of their industries.
The industries who vowed to submit their roadmaps by mid-month of August are: manufacturing, automotive, chemical, copper, mass housing, cement, ceramic tiles, iron and steel, biodiesel, furniture, electronics, creative and bamboo sectors, shipbuilding, garments and textile, mining, medical travel, petrochemicals, plastics and processed food.
“We only want to provide incentives to those that are competitive, and if you cannot export, you are not competitive,” DTI Secretary Gregory Domingo said.
