SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: Fifteen overseas workers (OFWs) from the Ilocos Region were repatriated from Libya as of July 21. Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA)-Region I Programs and Services Division officer-in-charge Rhoda Lee said “they will be assisted as soon as they land in the airport in terms of their needs like temporary shelters, if they won’t be able to immediately go home to their provinces and livelihood or local employment”. OWWA Region has documented 117 OFWs deployed actively in Libya. Also repatriated were two from Ilocos Sur, eight from Pangasinan and four La Union. Lee said 4, 887 OFWs are from Region I but none asked for help. OWWA has put up One-Stop-Shop desks to assist OFWs in Urdaneta City, Dagupan; Rosales, Alaminos and San Fernando City in La Union; and Candon City Hall in Vigan and Provincial Capitol in Ilocos Norte.
