TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan: A total of 169 government officials in Cagayan Valley surrendered under “Project Tokhang” from July 1 to September 8, according to Senior Supt. Liborio Carabbacan, deputy regional Director for Operations of the Philippine National Police here. Of the surrenderers, three are Sangguniang Bayan members, 46 barangay (village) chairmen, 92 councilmen, eight watchmen and 20 other government employees from the various provinces in Cagayan Valley or Region 2. The police monitoring center reveals that Isabela has the highest with 114 who turned themselves in, followed by Cagayan, 42; Nueva Vizcaya, 5; Quirino, 5; and Santiago City (Isabela), 3. There were no surrenderers in Batanes. A total of 183,269 houses were visited, resulting in the surrender of 19,343 from July 1 to September 1 with 17,504 users and 1,853 pushers. Carabbacan said nine suspected pushers and users were killed in anti-drug operations while 424 were arrested, of whom 121 are users and 303 pushers.
