174 health facilities in Cordillera upgraded


BAGUIO CITY: The Department of Health (DOH) in Cordillera region said 174 facilities have been upgraded into Basic Emergency Maternal and Neonatal Care to ensure the health and safety of every mother and child during delivery. DOH-Cordillera Assistant Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan said two hospitals – Benguet General Hospital and Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center were also upgraded into Comprehensive Emergency Obstetrics and Neonatal Care. She said the government wants every family even in the farthest and remotes barangay to have access in quality health care services and information. She said focus is also on strengthening community health teams not only for pregnancy tracking, bringing in children for immunization, multi-vitamins and deworming as well as senior citizens to be immunized with pneumonia and influenza-like illnesses.
