THE Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has stripped off police powers of 186 local chief executives since President Rodrigo Duterte assumed office in 2016, Officer-in-Charge Eduardo Año said.

Año said that eight governors and 178 mayors nationwide lost their supervisory control over police because of their alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade, failure to stop acts of terrorism, or by showing support to terrorist groups through various forms.
