LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: The municipalities of Kabayan and Bokod were designated as pilot areas for their own Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP) in the moves to harmonize indigenous peoples (IPs) practices in the existing Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan. Elias Labro Jr., Green Philippines National chairman, said ADSDPP will serve as the main reference material of the LCCAP for IPs’ concerns. Labro also suggested a resiliency framework to serve as guide in LCCAP formulation embracing IP concerns. This framework would include: respect for IP rights, culture and tradition, economic activity in connection with ecological preservation. Former Benguet board member Concepcion Balao, now the Green PH Chair for Luzon, said their group is extending technical assistance to the pilot LGUs in the formulation of LCCAP that will also incorporate gender advocacy programs. The said towns can access the budget for this under the P2 billion People’s Survival Fund.
