BANGUED, Abra: Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agents here arrested two allegedly high-profile drug dealers from Abra and Isabela during a recent buy-bust.
John Tadeo, 22, of Barangay Tattawa, Penarrubia town, Abra, and Lumbard Candong, 31, of Ilagan, Isabela, were arrested after selling shabu to a PDEA poseur buyer inside a room in a hotel in Barangay Pagdalagan Sur, Bauang, La Union.
Seven plastic sachets containing 120 grams of suspected shabu valued at P390,000 were confiscated from the suspects, who were said to be plying their illegal drug trade in the Ilocos Region, including Baguio City and Abra.
Meanwhile, 2,407 drug suspects have surrendered in Region 1 since July 1.
Kalinga province topped the highland region’s other five provinces with the most number of drug users who surrendered to authorities from July 1 to 19 with 702.
Cordillera police said Abra had 588 and Benguet, 491.
Apayao province had 202, Mountain Province, 172, and Ifugao, 136.
Baguio City recorded 116 surrenderers, bringing their number to a total of 2,407 all over the region.
Baguio topped all other areas in the region for drug dealers who turned themselves in with 118, followed by Abra with 110, Benguet with 67, Kalinga with 45, Ifugao with 41, Apayao with 39 and Mountain Province with 17.
At least 437 drug pushers have so far surrendered.
Police said 10 pushers were killed during legitimate operations in Region 1(two in Abra, two in Baguio, four in Benguet and two in Kalinga).
On Tuesday, Benguet’s most wanted drug suspect, Noel Bisaya, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on board a black sports utility vehicle in Upper Shilan, La Trinidad.
