CATBALOGAN CITY, Samar: Police have arrested two suspected drug pushers in a separate anti-illegal drug operations in the cities of Catbalogan and Calbayog in Samar province over the weekend. Chief Supt. Elmer Soria, director of Police Regional Office 8, identified the suspects as Thomas Sapo-an, 27, a student of Systems Technology Institute (STI) and a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Dagum, Calbayog City and Alberto “Itik” Valles, 32, a resident of Barangay Muñoz, Catbalogan City. Soria said that Sapo-an was nabbed by the joint team of Samar Police Provincial Office and Calbayog City Police in a buy bust operation at the corner of Asis and Bugallon Streets in Calbayog City. Confiscated from the suspect were three bricks of Marijuana leaves with an estimated market value of P6,000. Meanwhile, Valles was arrested by operatives of the Regional Special Operations Group and the Catbalogan City Police in a buy-bust operation in Purok 4, Barangay Canlapas at about 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The police confiscated three sachets of shabu from the suspect, a mobile phone and two P500 bills marked money.

  1. Northern Samar is said to be a hot spot for NPAs that AFP should concentrate on eradicating. There are areas like Laoang, Catarman, Catubig that are easily hideouts to NPA insurgents. Northern Samar is alleged to have election fraud happening every election period.
