State troopers and members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front clashed on Friday, leaving a soldier and a Muslim rebel dead. Three others were injured in the fight that occurred in Bubong village, Wato-Balindong town in Lanao del Sur. The clash occurred when one of the battalion commanders of the MILF under Abdullah “Kumander Bravo” Macapaar command tried to launch a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG). Col. Glen Macasero, commanding officer of the Marawi City-based 103rd Infantry Brigade (IB), said two of the injured were soldiers. He said state troopers were in the area to escort journalists were doing a report on the region’s power woes.
