COTABATO CITY: Two persons were killed, while five others, including a barangay chairman, were seriously wounded in an ambush on Friday in Banisilan, North Cotabato. Supt. Bernard Tayong, provincial police office spokesman, identified the fatalities as Lumayun Pukut Alayudan and Alinor Mantikayan, who both died from multiple gunshot wounds. The wounded were identified as Panamtaon Mantikayan; his relative known only as Beduh; Sarah Tekumeh; and siblings Moy and Mohaimen Saligan. Mantikayan is the chairman of Barangay Busaon, a remote area northeast of Banisilan that accounts for most number of rido or clan wars. The victims were onboard a vehicle en route to the office of the North Cotabato provincial governor in Barangay Amas in Kidapawan City when the suspects, positioned at one side of the road linking the village to the municipal center of Banisilan, fired at them with assault rifles.
