TWO suspected bus robbers were wounded when shot by the two policemen in an encounter inside the bus along Reliance Avenue in Manda-luyong City on Friday.
Mandaluyong City police chief Sr. Supt. Florendo Qui-buyen said the two policemen shot the suspected robbers when they declared holdup. He also said the two suspects were armed with long knives.
Quibuyen said one of the wounded suspected robbers was rushed to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center while another was rushed to the Polymedic Hospital.
The police chief, however, said there were no passengers injured from the incident.
According to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, the incident occurred at the corner of the southbound part of EDSA and Reliance Street, aboard a Kellen bus (UVX-682).
The MMDA said the foiled robbery caused heavy traffic in the area.
