2 Manila traffic men arrested for extortion


Two members of the Manila Traffic Parking Bureau ended up in jail after they fell in a police entrapment on Thursday afternoon.

Danilo Abundo, 51, and Lawrence Sebastian, 28, both residents of Tondo, Manila, were the subject of complaints from motorists passing Marcelino Street near the headquarters of the Manila Police District (MPD), according to Chief Insp. Arsenio Riparip, head of General Assignment and Investigation Section.

The operation was led by Police Officer 3 Rodel Benitez with the help of a complainant, who asked not to be identified.

Benitez posed as passenger of the complainant and he saw with his own eyes the racket of the two traffic enforcers.

Upon receiving P200 in marked money, the police officer immediately frisked the suspects who did not resist arrest.Abundo even denied the allegations.
