2 members of drug group slain in shootout

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Thursday killed two of three suspects believed involved in the drug trade during a brief shootout following a drug-bust operation in Quezon City.

The suspects are said to be members of the Joselito Gonzales Drug Group.

Police identified the slain suspects as Ernesto Locsin alias “Toto” and one as alias “Buboy.”
The two were killed following an encounter with operatives of the QCPD’s District Anti-Illegal Drugs-Special Operations Task Group (DAID-SOTG).

Chief Inspector Enrico Figueroa, DAID chief, said that at around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, his team conducted a buy-bust operation along Quirino Highway, Barangay Greater Lagro, Quezon City.

One of the operatives acted as a poseur buyer and initially arranged with the suspects to purchase ‘shabu’ worth P100,000.

When the suspects received the money, they noticed the presence of the operatives. They immediately boarded a parked taxi and drove away.

A brief chase and shootout occurred which resulted in the death of the two suspects while the other one eluded arrest.
