2 more bodies recovered inside sunken ship, death toll now at 58


Two more bodies were retrieved by Navy technical divers inside the hull of the sunken M/V St. Thomas Aquinas I on Tuesday morning.

Philippine Navy (PN) spokesperson Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Fabic said the bodies were recovered at about 7:30 a.m.

The bodies were turned over to the Talisay Fishport for identification and safekeeping.

Fabic said the retrieval of the two bodies has placed the death toll for the maritime mishap to 58 with 62 still missing.

The number of rescued passengers and crewmen is pegged at 750. PNA
