Multi-National Coordination Center (MNCC) director Capt. Rafael Mariano on Wednesday announced that two more countries, India and Italy, have expressed their decision to help the Philippines in its ongoing relief and rehabilitation program for victims of Super typhoon “Yolanda”.
However, he declined to comment further on the Indian commitment, stressing that India will probably deploy an LPD (landing platform helicopter) or LST (landing ship tank) together with engineering or medical group, as an initial coordination.
“There is no particular date regarding their deployment but they are now surveying the ground on what they will do,” Mariano stressed.
While Italy has expressed willingness to deploy a medical team and an aircraft carrier within the first or second week of December. PNA
