• 2 national tracksters strike gold in Philippine National Games

National mainstays Mervin Guarte and Jesson Ramil Cid won gold medals in their favorite events while the Mapua Institute of Technology team set a new national junior relay record on the final day of the 2013 Philippine Olympic Committee-Philippine Sports Commission Philippine National Games athletics competitions Sunday night at the Philsports track oval in Pasig City.
Guarte, a silver medalist in the 2011 Indonesia Southeast Asian Games, topped the men’s 1,500-meter run with a time of three minutes and 56.72 seconds while Christopher Ulboc settled for second with 3:57.87 and Wenlie Maulas wound up fourth with 4:00.89.
