President Benigno Aquino 3rd has appointed four new deputy directors of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) following the relief of Deputy directors Ruel Lasala and Reynaldo Esmeralda.
Lasala and Esmeralda were ordered to vacate their posts after they were implicated in the unauthorized disbursement of P366-million intelligence fund of the Philippine Charity Sweeptakes Office, the basis of the plunder complaint filed against former President and now Rep. Gloria Arroyo of Pampanga.
Among the newly designated deputy directors was Edward Villarta. He now heads the
Forensic Investigation Service, replacing retired deputy director Rickson Chion.
Ricardo Pangan Jr. replaced Esmeralda as Deputy Director for Investigation Service.
Antonio Pagatpat replaced Lasala as Deputy Director for Financial Services, while Jose Doloiras was named the Deputy Director for Intelligence Service, the former post held by NBI Director Virgilio Mendez.
Deputy Director for Comptroller Services Rafael Ragos was named as the Deputy Director Regional Operations Service.
Deputy Director for Administrative Service Edmundo Arugay was allowed to keep his post.
