THE PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) reported the killing of two suspected drug dealers during an encounter at dawn Tuesday following a buy bust operation in a suburban village in Quezon City.
CIDG Chief Director Victor Deona in a statement said that the suspects, identified as Amintao Khalid Makaindig and Ala Asnawe Macaayong, were killed after exchanging gun fire with joint operatives of the CIDG National Capital Region, National Capital Regional Police Office, Highway Patrol Group, the city hall detachment of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Deona said the two slain suspected drug dealers were on board their vehicle when they opened fire and tried to escape after sensing the presence of the police operatives at the Shell Gas Station along EDSA in Barangay Pinyahan in Quezon City.
The CIDG chief said this prompted the police teams to chase the suspects until they were cornered along the National Irrigation Authority Road in Barangay Pinyahan.
Instead of surrendering, the two suspects exchanged gunfire with the pursuing authorities.
Deona said Makaindig and Macaayong were immediately brought to the East Avenue Medical Center, but were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Deona added that plastic bags containing suspected “shabu” weighing three kilos, two caliber .45 pistols, several cellular phones, and a Toyota Altis used by the suspects were recovered from the crime scene.
The CIDG Chief said that they are still coordinating with the Land Transportation Office for the verification of the suspect’s vehicle.
