2 suspected drug pushers killed in Mandaluyong


TWO suspected drug pushers were killed while three others were arrested in an anti-illegal drugs operation in Mandaluyong City on Tuesday afternoon.

Eastern Police District (EPD) Director Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula said operatives of the Eastern Police District and the Mandaluyong City Police conducted a buy-bust operation at Balimbing Street, Block 37, Barangay Addition Hills at around 2 p.m.

Instead of surrendering, Joselito Aldon a.k.a “Pepe Smith”, 53 and Jerry Gonzales a.k.a “Puyo”, 30, opened fire at the policemen, prompting them to shoot back.

Gonzales died on the spot while Aldon was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Meanwhile, the arrested suspects were identified as Manuel Rosagaron, 31; Alan Calimlim, 30; and RJ Corpuz, 29.

Recovered from them were five .38 caliber revolvers, 20 sachets of suspected shabu and other drug paraphernalia.

Since July 1, 1,033 drug suspects have been killed during police operations.

The Philippine National Police on Tuesday said 15,193 were arrested during 15,905 anti-drug operations conducted by the police while 687,953 drug users and pushers surrendered.

Police officials are investigating the death sof 1,405 people, including victims of supposed vigilante killings.
