The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines announced that the Taiwan Scholarships program for Filipino students has once again opened for 2015.
Applications should be submitted through TECO to the relevant Taiwan Government funding agency. In line with Taiwan’s policy to strengthen its academic linkages with its friendly countries, this scholarship is offered specifically to international students who wish to pursue their further education in Taiwan.
Since 1995, more than 100 outstanding Filipino students have received the above-mentioned scholarship and successfully functioned as a bridge to enhance cultural understanding and cultivate genuine friendship between the two countries.
Five recipients of the Taiwan Scholarships will be selected this year to pursue their post-graduate studies (Master Degree or Doctoral Degree) in Taiwan universities of their choice. The program duration is two years for students of the Master Program and four years for Doctoral Program.
The Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE) awards each recipient 40,000 Taiwanese dollars (approximately P55,000) per semester to cover the tuition fee. Recipients will receive an extra monthly subsistence allowance of 20,000 Taiwanese dollars (approximately P27,000) to cover other expenses.
Application period for the program is open from February 1 to March 31. Applicants must send completed forms and relevant documents to TECO before the due date. Log on to www.roc-taiwan.org/ph for downloadable forms.
