2016 Manila Bay Clean-up Run fires off

Nearly 3,000 runners will compete in this year’s Manila Bay Clean-Up Run that fires off Sunday, in front of the Aliw Theater at the CCP Complex in Pasay City.  The annual marathon aims to help clean the country’s waterways and coastal resources.

The 21-kilometer category will roll off at 4:30 a.m. sharp, followed by the 10km, 5 km, and 3 km categories, respectively.

Among popular personalities joining the race are archer and sprinter Cynthia Thomalla. The latter, who was crowned Aliwan Fiesta queen in April, will see action in the 5K race, while Ironman veteran and 2015 Reyna ng Aliwan first runner-up Alexandra Faith Garcia will see action in the 21K event.  Actor Cesar Montano and the Miss Philippines-Earth beauties led by Imelda Schweighart will also compete in the marathon.

The event is a prelude to the 77th anniversary of DZRH, the flagship station of the Manila Broadcasting Company. DZRH is a member of “Sunset” partnership comprised of establishments helping to implement Land Bank’s program to rehabilitate Manila Bay. The 2016 Manila Bay Clean-Up Run is supported by Enervon, Petron, M. Lhuillier, Silka Papaya, Tapa King, Shakey’s, 555 Tuna, Kenny Rogers, Maynilad Water, and Lice Alis.

The Manila Broadcasting Company will also present a mini concert featuring the Mocha Babes and popular DJ Tanya Chinita of 1010.1 YesFM after the races.
