Electric vehicles (EVs) will become more popular and could power nearly half of all new vehicles sold worldwide by 2030, according to a study released on Friday by Boston Consulting Group.

That’s a global projection, so the change may not be that dramatic in the US. It defines electrified vehicles to include gas-electric hybrids, such as the Toyota Prius, plug-in hybrid vehicles, such as the Chevrolet Volt, and pure electrics such as the Chevrolet Bolt and all Tesla models.
