SINTGAING, Myanmar: Twenty-one farmers appeared Tuesday in a Myanmar court to seek bail after being arrested over a land-grab dispute with the military that has highlighted acute challenges faced by the rural poor.
Land ownership is one of the most contentious issues in the formerly junta-run country, where the army stands accused of rampant land-grabbing during its 50-year rule.
