An emotional Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach appeared before local and international media at her first grand conference since coming home to the Philippines on Saturday.
Wurtzback won the much coveted crown on December 20 in Las Vegas, USA, 42 years since the Philippines last held the title in 1973.
The newest pride of the country has always said she is most excited to do press conferences as she believes one of her greatest strengths is her ability to communicate. She admitted she loves to talk.
“Mabuhay! I did not prepare a speech [for you today]because I wanted every answer to come from the heart,” she greeted an enthusiastic crowd at Novotel Manila.
Besides saying she was overwhelmed, Wurtzbach choked up when she recalled how emotional she was a few months ago at the same hotel during her send off to the Miss Universe pageant.
“I am happy that I am back here today. I am proud to bring back home the crown. I have always believed that it would happen,” she declared.
“I hope my story will be an inspiration for determination, discipline, faith, and hardwork,” added the Cagayan de Oro lass who tried three times before winning the Binibining Pilipinas-Universe title, which led her to her ultimate dream.
Beaming with pride and grace, Wurtzbach contined, “Never give up on your dreams because you never know, it could happen to you.”
