CANDELARIA, Quezon: The decision of the Supreme Court (SC) to allow Senator Grace Poe to run for president is expected to bring more politicians to support her but the senator said it is no reason for her to be complacent.
Poe admitted that some politicians from other political parties have expressed support to her candidacy even before the High Tribunal ruled on her disqualification case and they were just waiting for the final decision of the court before they come out.
Poe however declined to name the politicians, saying they will reveal themselves in due time.
“We understand the situation of the local politicians and other candidates. They are having second thoughts in supporting a candidate who is facing a disqualification case, but they have expressed their support early on,” Poe said in a press conference here.
“So let’s just wait and see. But we don’t want to say that there will be a lot, but they are many,” she added.
Asked if former president and now Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada is one of them, Poe said she has not yet received any call from Estrada, a close friend of her late father Fernando Poe Jr.
Estrada earlier admitted having difficulties in choosing who to support between Poe and Vice President Jejomar Binay.
“It will be better if you will ask him. Of course getting his support will be very good but that is his personal and political decision,” Poe said, referring to Estrada.
