Some 25 families with members who died at the height of tropical storm ‘Santi’ in Central Luzon will be receiving P10,000 financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
In a statement, DSWD Secretary Corazon J. Soliman said the DSWD team already visited Concepcion, Tarlac and San Miguel, Bulacan to personally hand over the financial aid to five affected families last October 18.
Soliman added the DSWD in Central Luzon is scheduled to distribute the financial assistance to other affected families in Central Luzon provinces anytime this month.
The DSWD-Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Operations Office (DRRROO) reported nine (9) deaths in Nueva Ecija, seven (7) in Bulacan, six (6) in Pampanga, two (2) in Tarlac, and one in Zambales.
In Concepcion, Tarlac, the awarding of financial assistance to Mary Ann Samson, a resident of barangay Agustin Murcia was witnessed by Municipal Mayor Andres D. Lacson.
She was given burial assistance of P20,000 for her children Rochelle (8 years old) and Raymond (7 years old) who died when their house collapsed.
The DSWD team also went to San Miguel, Bulacan to award the financial assistance to the family-relatives of the four fatalities of typhoon ‘Santi’ in the province.
The DSWD likewise distributed 545 family food packs to affected families of Barangay Mabilog in Concepcion, Tarlac as well as 500 family food packs in Sapangbayan, Calumpit, Bulacan.
As of October 21, the DSWD chief said that more than P29 million worth of combined relief assistance from local government units, non-government organizations, and other national government agencies were provided to affected families by typhoon ‘Santi’ in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and Bicol. PNA
