• 27 Abra towns face extended blackouts

BANGUED: Abra Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Abreco) is working overtime to prevent private power producer Aboitiz Power Renewables Inc. (APRI), from making good its threat of cutting off its power supply due to the cooperative’s failure to settle its payments and other financial obligations.

Should APRI cut the power supply, thousands of consumers in Abra, especially those in 27 towns being serviced by Abreco, will experience extended power blackouts starting tomorrow.

APRI earlier terminated its amended power supply agreement (PSA) and handed out its termination notice to Ab-reco on November 4, 2014, citing the cooperative’s failure to settle its bills and fulfill its commitments.
