Businesswoman Janet Napoles should turn herself in and face the illegal detention charge against her, a lawmaker who has been linked to the alleged P10 billion Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel scam benefiting Napoles said Thursday.
Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, who has been implicated in the P10-billion PDAF scandal after P3.5 million worth of his PDAF went to a bogus nongovernment organization run by Napoles, made the call after the Department of Justice issued an arrest warrant against Napoles for the illegal detention of Benhur Luy, who had named her as the scam’s mastermind.
“I would appeal to her to face the case and defend herself. Flight is an admission of guilt. If you are guilty, you run away from a case,” Rodriguez told reporters in a chance interview.
“She should submit herself to the justice system instead of hiding. How can she defend herself if she is in hiding? If she continues to hide, she cannot defend herself from the pork scam, too. She should emerge,” Rodriguez added.
