Over 300 bowlers from all over the Philippines will see action in the 2nd SM Bowling Millionaires Cup on October 26 at all branches of SM Bowling and Leisure Center in the country.
“We want to develop new bowlers. This partnership and particular initiative of SM, helps us draw out these talents,” said Philippine Bowling Congress (PBS) Secretary General Francis De Leon in a press conference at the SM Bowling Center in SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City on Tuesday.
Offering a prize pot of P4 million, the second Millionaires Cup features four categories namely junior masters (bowlers 20 years old and below), senior masters (bowlers 50 years old and above), masters division (bowlers with PBC averages 186 and below) and open masters (open to former and current national team players as well as bowlers regardless of age and average).
Bowlers with PBC averages 186 and below can join under classified masters division.
The open masters champion will take home a P1 million cash prize while the classified masters winner will bring home P500,000.
The junior and senior masters champions will each receive P50,000.
The championship round is on December 17, in time for the opening of SM Bowling Center in SM Clark in Pampanga.
“It is a tremendous help in bowling in general and, particularly for the PBC. We [and SM]share the [same]vision of developing the sport, getting new talents and really pushing this sport forward so that we can bring back those glory days,” De Leon added.
