2nd Socsksargen Film Festival screens this December


Regional films from Mindanao will fill screens for the 2nd Lantawan Socsksargen Film Festival (LSFF), bearing the theme “A broader Perspective of Life through Cinema.” LSFF happens in different venues from December 2 to December 5.

Perry Dizon’s Of Cats, Dogs, Farm Animals and Sashimi, a documentary on the young workers of the Zamboanga rubber plantations, will open the 2nd Lantawan on December 2 at the Bro. McKnight Auditorium, Notre Dame de Dadiangas University (NDDU) in General Santos City. The screening will be followed by a discussion and Q-and-A with the film director.

LSFF is composed of two categories for competition and the |”Cinema Rehiyon Reloaded” film exhibition. “Sine Mindanaw”, the open category on shorts, will screen twenty shorts from different regional filmmakers while the “Sine Socsksargen” category for students from different educational institutions in SOCSKSARGEN (South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani Province and General Santos City) will screen ten competing films. For the Cinema Rehiyon Reloaded component, fourteen shorts from the recently conducted Cinema Rehiyon in Cebu will be screened in exhibition.

LSFF is a project spearheaded by SOCSKSARGEN Center for Film Arts (SCFA) Inc. and NCCA, with Festival Director Mr. Bodie Carillo
