Three alleged carnappers were killed after they engaged operatives in an exchange of fire in Quezon City on Thursday night.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director Chief Supt. Guillermo T. Eleazar said one of the suspects was identified as Duncan Benedict Arandia while the two other suspects were described to be in their mid-20s.
Police reports showed that at 11:00 p.m., authorities were patrolling along Engineering St., Brgy. West Fairview when they spotted the suspect without helmets, riding a motorcycle without license plates.
The suspects were flagged down for verification after their vehicle matched the description of a reported carnapped motorcycle but the three immediately sped off.
They alighted near Daang Nawasa, Brgy. Sauyo, Novaliches and fired at the responding policemen, shattering the windshield and the left window of the police car.
The operatives engaged the suspects in a firefight resulting in their deaths.
Investigators of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) and Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) recovered one cal .38 revolver, a cal .45 pistol, five deformed bullets, and sachets of suspected shabu.
